Regrown Recordings' Recording Summer Intensive

Welcome!

Thank you for expressing interest in Regrown Recordings’ first-ever Recording Summer Intensive! Our mission is to raise awareness for music production and recording as a viable career path, while bolstering the creative ambitions of young adults using industry-standard technology and production techniques.

Over the course of six 3-hour sessions, students will experience the entire process of creating, producing and releasing a song of their own creation - from songwriting to recording, mixing and mastering their own material. Student engineers will work as a team to fill the numerous roles required to bring a song from conception to completion. They will learn common practices and techniques that are involved in capturing high-quality audio, retaining high standards in the production process, and handling the recorded materials through the mixing and mastering stages.

More About Regrown Recordings…

Matt founded Regrown Recordings in 2019 in order to have an official home for local artists to create music that they love, at a level of professional quality that you’d expect from a commercial studio. Using his skills in building and wood-working, as well as a lot of help and donations from others, Matt built this studio with a focus on utilizing up-cycled and second-hand materials in every aspect of the space - from the studs in the walls to the main control desk, a large percentage of this studio was built using recycled and up-cycled materials.

Since then, Matt has gone on to record, mix and master for numerous local artists, podcasters and more. He has cultivated partnerships with the Baldwin Public Library and Midstage Music during the pandemic to spread music online and support local artists, and he has been interviewed by Newsday for an article that highlighted the best home studios on Long Island for multiple artistic disciplines - from dance, to photography, to music.
